Goals and Objectives: 

• Maintaining a 98% work order completion rate for more than seven years, the Dare County Schools Facilities and Maintenance Department has done it again this year. Staff worked throughout the summer months to have major projects that can't be done during the year, completed before school started.
• The focus is on supporting the needs of Dare County's staff and students.
• A dedicated staff of 10 persons maintains over 1.2 million square feet of space at 10 schools and two office buildings. Responsibilities also include upkeep of 132 acres of grounds. This multitalented group provides support to Dare County Schools every day. Their work can be seen all over the district and has drawn praise and appreciation from both staff and students.

Teacher Housing Units

Dare County Schools is pleased to offer teachers and school leaders the opportunity to live in one of our state of the art housing units. We know that convenience and affordability are important to our teachers. As a result, we offer affordable units in both Kill Devil Hills and Cape Hatteras. Advertisement for Bids 

Pursuant to Section 143-129 of the General Statutes of North Carolina, sealed proposals endorsed “Manteo High School Field House” will be received by Dare County Schools, until 2:00 P.M., on October 2, 2025 at which time they will be publicly opened and read at the Central Office, 3020 S. Wrightsville Ave, Nags Head, NC 27959 (Mail to the attention of Ian Adams, PO Box 1508, Nags Head, NC 27959).

Bids shall be reviewed by the Owner for the furnishing of labor, material and equipment entering into the construction of the Manteo High School Field House. Bidders shall be advised of the results. Bids will be received for a Single Prime Contract.

An open Pre-Bid Meeting will be held on September 18, at 2:00 PM at the project site, located at Manteo High School, 829 Wingina Ave, Manteo, NC 27954. This meeting will address project specific questions, issues, bidding procedures and bid forms.

Complete plans and specifications for this project are available free of charge for a Digital Download or for $200.00 (refundable) deposit by cash or certified check for hard copies.
