
Pre-Collegiate Psychology Summer Fellowship

Overview
The Pre-Collegiate Psychology Summer Fellowship is an immersive, experiential learning program designed to extend learning beyond the classroom. Students will work with practicing psychologists, engage in research-based activities, and explore careers in psychology.
Who Can Apply
- Dare County high school students who have completed or are enrolled in AP Psychology, Psychology 150, or a related course
- Students interested in pursuing a career in psychology
Program Highlights
- Hands-on mentorship from practicing psychologists
- Exploration of psychology subfields
- Participation in research-informed, evidence-based initiatives
- Final presentation of a research-based project to education and community leaders
Additional Opportunities
- Student membership to the NC School Psychology Association
- Student liaison role with the Dare County Youth Mental Health Collaborative (2026–2027)
- Optional opportunity to attend the National Association of School Psychologists conference (February 2027)
Important Notes
- This program does not provide high school or college credit
- Students must provide their own transportation unless otherwise arranged
- The program is flexible but requires commitment to most activities
- A certificate will be awarded upon successful completion
Timeline and Commitment
- Total of approximately 40 hours during Summer 2026
- Includes virtual sessions, in-person experiences, and independent work
