Secondary Education

The World Awaits our Graduates.

There are many roads to success and our high schools help students discover their own pathway. We strive to help students discover their own unique talents and ambitions. By providing our students with a rigorous course of study, they will graduate remarkably well-prepared for college. But, it’s not all about the outcome - it’s about the journey and what we learn and discover along the way.

College and Career Readiness

Dare County Schools values the impact of students exploring career options early in their academic years. Career and college exploration begins in middle school and is further enhanced in high school through activities such as job shadowing, internships, pre-apprenticeships, career fairs, interest inventories, and college fairs. Work-based learning continues to be an area of increased interest and allows students a chance to have first hand knowledge of specific duties and credentials required for their desired profession.

Academics and Character Education Come First.

Our primary goal is for our students to graduate high school prepared for the world that awaits them. In many ways, our world has changed drastically since the dawn of the twenty-first century. Our educators see it as their responsibility to prepare our students for the world that is coming, not just the world that is already here.

  • Students have access to honors, AP, and college coursework.
  • Each student has a Chromebook and uses Google Apps for Education to help facilitate collaborative learning.
  • Guidance counselors work directly with our students to help them prepare for life after graduation.
  • Our schools feel like families. Students have the opportunity to join numerous clubs and to participate in extra-curricular activities.
