We are Here for You
Dare County Schools is committed to the well-being of every student, staff member, and family in our care. Below, you’ll find a variety of mental health resources and initiatives designed to provide support during times of crisis and throughout the school year.
Support for Students and Staff
Mobile Crisis Team: Integrated Family Services
Mobile crisis services involve all support, services, and treatment necessary to provide integrated crisis response, crisis stabilization interventions, and crisis prevention activities 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. Crisis intervention services are provided at any location in the community to reduce barriers to service delivery.

Virtual Mental Health Support through DayBreak
Dare County Schools is partnering with Daybreak, a teletherapy platform that specializes in professional mental health support for K-12 students. Parents and guardians can submit a referral to connect their student with a licensed and experienced mental health provider.
Community Support Through Trillium Health Resources
Our partners at Trillium Health Resources support our district during times of crisis.
The program also provides essential training on mental health for our staff members to educate them on early prevention, recognizing warning signs, and more.

Day Treatment Program - Getting Ready, Inc.
Getting Ready's Day Treatment Program is designed to provide a structured, small-group setting for children and adolescents who have extreme difficulty functioning in the typical classroom setting due to behavior problems, mental health issues, or social withdrawal.
This program is available to students in Dare County Schools and is housed at First Flight Middle School.

Mental Health Support for Staff: Employee Assistance Program
All Dare County Schools staff and their household members have access to six free counseling sessions per year through our Employee Assistance Program, available 24/7. For more information, contact Benefits Coordinator Erren Gibbs.
