Dare County Schools will implement strategic leadership transitions at two schools effective Monday, October 6, 2025. These changes are designed to align leader strengths with school community needs.
Sarah Pritchard, currently serving as assistant principal at First Flight High School, will become principal of Manteo Elementary School. Current Manteo Elementary principal, Curtis Price, will join the administrative team at First Flight High School as an assistant principal.
A native of Dare County, Pritchard served as a classroom teacher at Manteo High School for 16 years before becoming assistant principal in 2020. She joined the First Flight High School administrative team in 2024, contributing to the school’s success in meeting growth and raising its performance grade last year. Pritchard has a proven track record of successfully providing students with additional support, resources, and opportunities to thrive. She is excited about continuing this at the elementary level and the already strong community relationships.
Price began his career with Dare County Schools in 2012 as a classroom teacher at Manteo Middle and Manteo High. He later served as an administrative intern at Manteo Elementary (2017–2018) and as assistant principal at First Flight Middle (2018–2020). In 2020, he became principal of Manteo Elementary, where he was named Principal of the Year for 2023–24 school year. Price is recognized for fostering a positive, student-centered school culture and will bring that same energy and expertise to First Flight High School.
Dare County Schools believes these new appointments will have a purposeful impact on each of their school communities. The district will support Manteo Elementary and First Flight High School during this leadership shift. Dare County Schools wishes each of these leaders success in their new roles.
