At Dare County Schools, we are pleased to offer our employees a competitive compensation package. 

Teachers, school administrators, and non-teaching positions in NC schools are employed by local boards of education but are paid on a state salary schedule. In addition to the state salary, a local supplement is also available to certified employees along with comprehensive health, insurance, and retirement options.

$37,000 - $65,880 (Based on experience and certifications)

Certified Local Supplement

$4,000 - $6,750 (Based on experience and certifications)

Full-Time Classified Compensation Overview

Affordable Teacher Housing

Through the generosity of the Dare Education Foundation, Dare County Schools is able to offer two teaching housing complexes in Kill Devil Hills and Hatteras. Rented below market value, the 2-bedroom, 2-bath units are an affordable option for teachers.
