Molly and AshleyAshley Jackson and Molly McGinnis have been hired as district social workers for Dare County Schools. Jackson is originally from Virginia and graduated from George Mason with a degree in Criminal Justice and later pursued a Master's Degree in Social Work from Virginia Common Wealth University. Following graduation, she worked as a social worker for Fairfax County Schools in Virginia. After moving to Dare County, she worked for the Department of Social Services. Jackson is most excited about building relationships with parents and connecting them to the vast array of community resources that are available in Dare. "Working in a smaller district provides social workers the opportunity to really get to know parents and students and build relationships," Jackson said.

Molly McGinnis is a Manteo native and went to school at First Flight Elementary, Manteo Middle, and Manteo High. She is a graduate of Campbell University and Appalachian State. After completing her social work internship at Avery Middle School in Avery County, McGinnis said, "I knew I wanted to come home to Dare County and serve the families in the community that I love so much."

Together, Jackson and McGinnis will work to support school principals and guidance counselors. Their immediate task will be to work with at-risk students that have missed too many days of school. But, their focus will also be on supporting teachers and school professionals in helping young children develop social and emotional skills and connecting schools to healthcare and social resources in the community.
