Empty Bowls - Just Around the Corner!
Save the February 23 date
Under the instruction of art teacher Cindy Mansfield, and with help from science teacher Mary Ann Hodges, Manteo Middle School AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) students have completed some of the pottery bowls that will be offered in the Empty Bowls Fundraiser coming up on February 23 at MMS. Teresa Edwards' AVID students are also supporting the MMS Empty Bowls fundraiser by volunteering to help. NJHS (National Junior Honor Society) students will also be volunteering to serve at the community evening of food and fellowship in support of local food banks. Schools throughout the district are providing handcrafted bowls and other items. There will be a silent auction, and desserts will be available. Participants in the silent auction do not have to be present to win. Tickets will be at the door from 5-7. Complete meal tickets - a bowl, soup, bread, and tea - may be purchased for $10, and afterward, each bowl of soup and bread is $3. Delicious soups are provided by several local restaurants. Entertainment will be provided by Manteo High and Manteo Middle musicians under the direction of April Rife and Becki Rea.
